Hello to all my lovely blog followers, especially the new person following as I now have 16...not including all you secret readers!! Thank you all for following me!
Right, sorry its been a bit on the quiet front but I have been sunning myself in Egypt for a week :o) Yes, yes, yes, I did pack my trainers & I did sweat it out in the very very hot non air conditioned gym!!!! I only managed a few sessions but still it kept my legs moving, infact it was quite a scary experience as the gym was full of Russians pumping iron... and that was just the women!!!
Anyway, holiday over & back to serious training! ONLY 12 little weeks to go till London! It flies round now, I remember from last year! I was hoping to come back to Inverness & see all the snow having disapeared......no such luck!!! We still have about an inch or so fo slippy stuff but I was so raring to get out yesterday I braved it!
As I havent run outside since before xmas because of the snow I was aiming to do a very steady 10-13 miler. I set off & it was freezing but eventually I got into my stride about mile 4. For those non runners reading, for some strange reason the first few miles are always killers!! Your legs feel like lead, you head constantly tells you to stop! Sounds like such fun doesn't. I really don't know why I put myself through it ;o)
Anyway, sadly just after mile 4 I got a blister. Now I have never suffered with blisters before, ever. So i didnt know what to do. I tried all sorts of things to make it more confortable, like, loosening my trainer, tightening my trainer, running with my foot in a different position.....all to no avail :( I took the decision to turn back. I ended up doing about 6-7 miles, the last bit very speradic run/walk as my foot was sore. Very disapointed & very disheartened. You see, when you write a training plan it all looks so simple on paper. Then you get a day where something doesnt go right & you dont reach your intended mileage & it puts you back!! So I was feeling very glum yesterday.....but......today :) back on the horse & get on with it!!! I have body balance at the gym tonight & I may sneak in & do a light cardio session to make up for my rubbish attempt yesterday! So my week looks like the following
Monday - Possible Light cardio session at gym & Body Balance Class
Tuesday - if no guests then will go to 7am Spinning :) if guests, gym session in Eve
Wednesday - run 5 Miles
Thursday - Back to circuits :)
Friday - Rest
Saturday - Rest
Sunday - Attempt number 2 at 10-13 miles!!!
Wish me luck :o)
Mileometer - 5 miles from last week while away & 6 from yesterday takes me to......92.9 miles......So I'll reach 100 miles by next week...BRING IT ON :)

I always put the first few miles of tiredness down to the legs/body just not being warmed up enough.
ReplyDeleteI think what you need to tell yourself if you don't reach a specific mile you aimed for is "Anything is better than nothing".
Well done on your 92 miles soon to be 100!
Hi runpaulrun, You're my new follower!! Welcome & thanks for reading :) Are you doing London?
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with the whole dead leg thing, I now just keep telling myself over & over again that it WILL start feeling easier!! Also where it is so cold at the moment it takes so long to warm up or is that me being silly??
Can't wait to get to 100 I am so determined to reach my distance this sunday!!!
