Plodding along

First off today I just want to say thank you to all the people who are reading my blog. It really does help to know what people are behind you & supporting you. So a special mention to my brother, Chris, who was most peeved that I hadn't updated my blog with how my 7 miler went & was even more unimpressed when he found out it didn't happen! Even though he was giving me grief down the phone I was secretly happy that he'd remembered & had been following my blog.....don't tell him though ;o)

So yes, my Sunday run didn't happen. After my Friday run in my new trainers I got sore shins which unfortunately I suffer with for different reasons. I am now being sensible in the earlier stages of my training & listening to them as if I carry on not bothering it will be harder to fix later on. So I rested another day & ran on Monday. Of course to try & make up for missing 7 miles I ran a bit of a longer route & did a nice 4 miler. I wore my new trainers again & this time no blisters! Felt very comfortable & dare I say that I actually enjoyed my little plod!!

I decided that music definately helps me disapear in to the thing you hear about called the "Zone" If i get into the musicality/beat of a song & enjoy what I am listening to you actually forget you are running! Yep, its true! & then after a while you think, jeez, I'm already nearly home & a minute ago it felt like miles away!

I remember the song that stood out for me during the Loch Ness marathon was Britney spears "Womaniser" (yep, I do admit to having that on my Ipod & infact there is alot worse!!!) & now everytimg I hear that song I remember running along the shores of Lochness & just wanting to stop & dance for a bit!!

So my question to my blog followers is....... name me some good funky tunes to keep me running & they don't have to be running related!!!

  1. Can't help with the running tunes, I'm afraid, as I never listen to music when I run. I like to drift off in my head to get into the zone, and since I do all my long runs out on the road, I daren't not hear traffic zooming up on me from round the next corner.

Glad to hear you're listening to your body and not punishing yourself by sticking to a rigid plan. It's still early days, isn't it?

  2. I'm quite jealous of people who can run without music. I didnt run with music at London but Lochness it was my saviour & I can't help thinking did it help with my time as I was half an hour quicker??!! I get lost in the tunes where as I'd keep listening to those little demons if I didnt have it & they keep telling me to stop & walk!! hehehe

It is early days, I know I can do it but I want to do better so I mustn't be too relaxed..... Hmmmmm
